Our Story

On March 5, 2011, I ran my first sub 4 minute mile. Thus forever stamping my name on one of the most prestigious lists in running lore.

You can watch the race for yourself here on Flotrack.

Take note of the girl shouting "Hammond!" again and again. That became something of a running joke on my college team.

I broke 4 a few more times after that. Here's a fun one on a podunk track in Roanoke, VA (the weekend of my graduation, no less):

But none compared to that first one. That pure feeling of satisfaction and achievement.

I'm sure you can imagine the work that went into it. The thousands of miles, the track sessions, the weightlifting, the diet and lifestyle.

But - and this is a bit taboo in the running world - I had one other factor at play.

I ... took ... supplements.

There, I said it.

An unfortunate side effect of performance enhancing drugs in sport is that it makes everyone uncomfortable about taking anything.

But I'll freely admit it. I tried ALL KINDS of supplements throughout my running career. You name it, I tried it.

This was a frustrating experience.

You see, there's not really a resource for this sort of thing. There's no universally approved list of supplements runners ought to take.

Sure you can look it up online. But each blog post is conveniently littered with Amazon affiliate links to foreign-made supplements you can barely pronounce (SO many X's and Z's in the names, right??).

And the elite athletes? They won't share a thing. With the taboo behind any performance enhancer, the most they will say is "caffeine and a good diet."

Well, I'm here to change all that.

With Sub4, I'm pulling back the curtain on the mysteries of supplements for improved performance. Our products are US-made, 100% safe for USADA/WADA standards, and - best of all - they actually work.

No more super buff dudes hawking BS products (when you know they're on the juice).

No more fat burners, brain pills, or Chinese-made crap.

And no more wasting money trying to find out what works and what will yet again let you down.

Welcome to Sub4!
